Opening of the renewed classroom in the Power Engineering Laboratory

As a part of Generation Next funding, a new communications platform which bands together the projects preparing Croatia for a new technology wave, Croatian Telecom has awarded the best STEM projects. In category “Innovations”, the project entitled “The first Croatian hydrogen charging station” led by assistant professor Ankica Kovač from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture has won the first award.

The project is based on using solar energy for production of an alternative fuel source, hydrogen, for cleaner transport, which will help to reduce air pollution and improve the quality of life in large cities.

“I’m extremely happy that the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture belongs to a group of acclaimed experts who encourage the development of STEM in Croatia. By the virtue of Croatian Telecom, Croatia will have its own innovative system encompassing the production, storage and distribution of hydrogen. This technology is one of the 7 key technologies of the 21st century and it is very important to start the development in time, but also to accept the technology and enlist it into the Energy strategy of the Republic of Croatia”, said Kovač.

A part of the funding will be spent for the renewal of the classroom in the Power Engineering Laboratory.
